This is how the cameo appearance of members of the original Dark Shadows cast begins in the new movie, as guests arriving at Collinwood for a costume party held by Barnabas (Johnny Depp), who greets them with "Welcome to Collinwood" as they walk through the door. Left to right in these screen captures from a WB promo short are Lara Parker, Jonathan Frid, Kathryn Leigh Scott, and behind them is David Selby.

Dark Shadows Bumper Sticker
Anyone remember these, which were printed in the mid-late 1980's? Here's a cleaned up scan of one I still had....print it on adhesive paper and stick it on your car!
R.I.P. Jonathan Frid, Barnabas on Dark Shadows
A childhood influence from one of my fave shows of all time is gone. Lovingly remembered by Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie Evans) on her website: http://www.kathrynleighscott.com/?p=2190 .
Frid was 87...gone but never to be forgotten.

XANADU - The Unofficial Complete Soundtrack
Non-horror but a Universal post....my own compilation (and mostly my own rips from CD, laserdisc and DVD) of all the songs, plus Barry DeVorzon's score, and a bunch of other nifty things from the movie's music. Click the back cover images below for the full track listings (covers included in the downloads). Tracks on Disc 1 are in their correct film order.
50 tracks total, 320kbps (only a couple not at that bitrate).
NEW Links are in the Comments.
This was compiled from several sources: All of the major songs on Disc 1 are from the CD release (I used the CD in the DVD special edition because it seemed to have a little cleaner, remastered sound) except for vinyl sources for "Drum Dreams" and "You Made Me Love You" (Vinnie R. just provided a CD rip of "Fool Country"). All of the Barry DeVorzon score tracks on Disc 1 and the songs minus/subdued vocal tracks on Disc 2 are from the DVD's Dolby Digital audio (after separating the channels, it was better and easier that way since most of the dialogue and some sound effects were relegated to the center channel).
A few of the other tracks on each disc are from the original Dolby Surround mix on the old laserdisc release...I preferred the sound quality of the original mix to the newer Dolby Digital mix for that reason. The sound remix on the DVD simply didn't sound the same or have the dynamic range of the original Dolby Surround sound. The "Danny Meets Kira" track of Devorzon's music retains the dialogue from that scene because I like hearing Gene and Olivia reciting that famous poem during the music, so I kept the dialogue (it didn't sound right from the separated DVD tracks anyway). Uncertain of the original source for some of the promo/alternate versions (I scrounged around to find those), but some seem to be from CD and others from vinyl possibly.
I may even have one (or possibly two) more disc compilations to post from this, one of the movie versions of several songs off the laserdisc (as the movie versions were either mixed differently or were actually longer in the movie itself), along with several other remixes and new versions of some of the songs that have shown up over the years. Stay tuned here for an update to this post to see what I end up posting here in addition to what's already up....Who knows what else I might turn up along the way?
Okay....getting into this a bit over my head, maybe.....but here's DISC 3. The back cover image explains it.
MORE XANAMANIA!
The posting of the extended remixes has been changed ASAP due to several additional remixes Vinnie got to me. Thanks, Vinnie!
Here ya go.....the back cover images (click to enlarge, of course) explain the repackaging of the remixes. NEW Links are in the Comments area.
